Police renew appeal after man stabbed to death outside Sutton Coldfield pub
A man in his 20s died in the car park of the Beggars Bush on Chester Road, and no one has been arrested.
Detectives investigating the death of a man who was stabbed outside a Sutton Coldfield pub have renewed their appeal for information, a day after the attack, with no arrests made so far.
The man, who was in his 20s, was found with serious injuries in the car park of the Beggars Bush pub on Chester Road, New Oscott, just before 2am on Sunday.
Nothing could be done to save him
The ambulance service was called at 1.51am and sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the air ambulance's critical care car. Crews gave advanced life support, but he was confirmed dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "Sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene. Our thoughts and support are with his loved ones at this devastating time."
A dedicated portal for footage
The force says it is carrying out a range of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV, "to establish why this happened and who was involved".
"We understand a number of people had been in the area, and we've set up a dedicated portal for any footage or information which could assist our enquiries to be submitted," the spokesperson said.
Officers believe that people who were nearby at the time may have filmed what happened on their phones, or may have doorbell or dashcam footage from Chester Road and the roads around the pub. Even a short clip, or a sighting of someone leaving the area, could help detectives build a picture of the events in the car park.
Patrols to reassure residents
A scene remained in place on Monday, and the force said there would be more police in the area over the coming days, with local officers carrying out reassurance patrols and available to listen to residents' concerns.
"No arrests have been made at this stage and we'd ask anyone who can help us to come forward," the spokesperson said.
Tributes, including balloons, have been left near the scene. The pub, which was holding an event on Saturday night, has closed while the investigation continues.
