Birmingham to mark the first Ozzy Day with music across the city
Bostin Brass, CBSO musicians and a specially dressed Ozzy the Bull will honour the Aston-born rock legend on 22 July.
Birmingham is celebrating the first Ozzy Day on 22 July, a free, city-wide day of music, art and memories honouring Aston-born rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
The day, one year on from the funeral procession through the city, is being delivered by Central BID and OPUS with Birmingham City Council, Birmingham New Street and Westside BID.
What is happening
- Pop-up performances by Bostin Brass, the brass band that played at the funeral procession, including at Birmingham New Street at 8.30am and outside Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery at 10am.
- A lunchtime performance by musicians from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra outside Selfridges in the Bullring at 12.15pm.
- Free commemorative Polaroids with Ozzy the Bull, dressed specially for the day, at New Street station.
- The chance to see the museum's Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero exhibition, including his famous throne, and follow the Celebrating Black Sabbath in the City trail.
Birmingham Music Archive will be at New Street inviting fans to share their memories of Ozzy for a commemorative guestbook, and OPUS has commissioned short films to record the day.
A limited-edition Ozzy Day t-shirt, with a list of all 52 gigs he played in Birmingham as a solo artist and with Black Sabbath, is on sale at Selfridges while stocks last. Activity is also planned at the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge on Broad Street.
