Warwickshire's nine Championship titles
From Frank Foster in 1911 to Ed Barnard in 2026, the county's title-winning sides.
Warwickshire's County Championship win at Edgbaston was their ninth title. Here is a look back at the club's Championship history.
The first title: 1911
Warwickshire first won the Championship in 1911, captained by Frank Foster, a fast-bowling all-rounder who was only 22. It was a remarkable achievement for a county that had only joined the Championship in 1895.
1951 and 1972
The second title came in 1951 under Tom Dollery, the first professional to captain the county. In 1972, a side captained by Alan Smith, and including the West Indies stars Rohan Kanhai, Lance Gibbs, Alvin Kallicharran and Deryck Murray, won again.
The 1990s: the treble and a double
In 1994, Warwickshire had one of the greatest seasons in county history, winning the Championship, the Sunday League and the Benson and Hedges Cup, and reaching the NatWest Trophy final. Brian Lara scored a world record 501 not out against Durham at Edgbaston that summer. They retained the Championship in 1995.
2004 and 2012
Warwickshire won again in 2004, and in 2012 under Jim Troughton, with a squad built around home-grown players.
2021: the Bob Willis Trophy era
In 2021 Warwickshire won the Championship and then beat Lancashire to win the Bob Willis Trophy at Lord's, named after the former England captain and Warwickshire great.
2026: number nine
This year's title, sealed with an innings win over Leicestershire, was built on the bowling of Ethan Bamber, who took 69 wickets, and a run of five wins in the last six matches. Ed Barnard's side finished 20 points ahead of Somerset.
A proud home
Edgbaston, Warwickshire's home since 1886, is one of England's great Test grounds and has hosted some of the most famous matches in cricket history, including the 2005 Ashes Test that England won by two runs.
