Ethan Bamber has finished the 2026 County Championship season as the leading wicket-taker in Division One, with 69 wickets for champions Warwickshire.

The seamer's haul included match figures of nine for 94 in the title-clinching innings victory over Leicestershire at Edgbaston, where he took four for 42 and five for 52.

A season of big performances

Bamber was at his best in the crucial final weeks of the season. Earlier this month he took five for 28 as Warwickshire closed in on the leaders, and in mid-September he took six for 26 as Essex were bowled out for 134 at Chelmsford, where Warwickshire won by eight wickets inside two days.

In that match, the spinner Manav Suthar added five for 75, and Sam Hain and Dan Mousley completed the chase of 133.

Top of the charts

In Division Two, Durham's Matthew Potts took the most wickets, with 60. The leading run-scorer in Division One was Nottinghamshire's Joe Clarke, with 1,288 runs, while Northamptonshire's Ricardo Vasconcelos led Division Two with 1,159.

About Bamber

Bamber, a right-arm seam bowler, joined Warwickshire from Middlesex. He is known for his accuracy and his ability to move the ball, which makes him particularly effective in English conditions.

England hopes?

A season like this puts any bowler in the conversation for international honours, and supporters will be hoping that the selectors have been watching. England's winter plans will be revealed in the coming weeks.

What next for Warwickshire

With the Championship season over, the players will now rest before winter training. Some may head overseas to play in franchise tournaments or for England Lions, while the club plans for defending its title next summer.
