Birmingham City Women and Crystal Palace shared six goals in an entertaining 3-3 draw in the Women's Super League on Sunday.

Oceane Hurtre scored twice for Blues, including a goal in the first minute, and Suzu Amano was also on the scoresheet. For Palace, the England international Bethany England struck twice in quick succession in the second half.

A point for the promoted sides

Both teams were promoted to the WSL this summer. Birmingham City won the Women's Super League 2 title last season, and Palace finished as runners-up, with both promotions confirmed on 2 May.

The draw leaves Blues 12th in the 14-team table with two points from four matches, level on points with Aston Villa. Palace are eighth with five points.

Adjusting to the top flight

The step up from the second tier to the WSL is one of the biggest in English football. Top-flight clubs have larger budgets and squads packed with internationals, and newly promoted teams often take time to adapt.

Blues will take encouragement from their attacking play, having scored three times against a fellow promoted side, but they will want to tighten up at the back.

The table

Manchester City lead the WSL with a perfect 12 points from four games. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are on ten, with London City Lionesses on nine.

A proud history

Birmingham City Women have a strong history. They won the Women's FA Cup in 2012 and reached the final again in 2017, and they were founder members of the WSL in 2011. After relegation in 2022, their return to the top flight has been welcomed by fans.

Supporting the team

Tickets for Blues Women's home matches are usually available from the club's website, and many WSL games are shown on television and streaming services.
